“I wanted to create something haunting.”
On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, Taylor Swift said on her Instagram post that she will be involved in the musical aspect of the new film, “Where the Crawdads Sing,” produced by Reese Witherspoon. It is set to be released in July with an original song named “Carolina.”
The singer-songwriter and 11-time Grammy winner shared the film’s trailer on her post with her lyrics and voice filling in the gaps between the leading actress, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and the rest of the cast’s dialogue.
She also revealed how “Carolina” came to be and confirmed that she is the only writer of the song. It was produced by her “folklore” and “evermore” collaborator, Aaron Dessner. She stated that she wanted to create something haunting and ethereal to match the mesmerizing story of the aforementioned film.
