After more than two years, the Met Gala rolls down again on the red carpet to welcome celebrities, young creatives, and renowned designers.
Part one of this year’s fundraising event happened on the evening of September 13, 2021, with the theme “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” The concept is also for celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the fashion gathering organizer.
Billie Eilish and her co-hosts, Amanda Gorman, Timothée Chalamet, and Naomi Osaka, lead the program of extravagant clothes and beautiful faces. With less than 600 attendees due to the COVID-19 pandemic, well-known individuals from the entertainment and fashion industry have exerted effort to show up in their full glam.
Some of the best dressed of the Met are Lil Nas X, who owns the stage with his golden suit, Kim Kardashian with an all-black unique outfit, Kendall Jenner with her fully crystal dress by Givenchy, Gigi Hadid y wearing Prada and serving bombshell redhead beauty, and Filipino pride, Saweetie in her gown with a symbol of Philippine and Black American flags.
The gala occupies the trending list on several social media platforms. Iconic couples including Justin and Hailey Bieber, Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz, and Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello walk hand in hand with pride. Moreover, Blackpink Rose and CL of YG Entertainment debuted for South Korean idols to walk in the prestigious affair.
Youtubers also graced the scene, with NikkieTutorials, Eugene Lee Yang, Jackie Aina, and Addison Rae. Vogue’s YouTube channel invited Emma Chamberlain this year to interview and chat with all of the celebrities.
Since the Met Gala 2020 has been cancelled, the 2021 fashion exhibit will have two parts for the first time. The second part and the larger version will be on May 5, 2022, with the theme, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.”
Guest are required to be vaccinated and have their face masks before entering the venue in line with the announcement of IMG, the New York’s Fashion Week official organizer.
The Met Gala has been a yearly event since 1948 participated by Hollywood stars and most prominent personalities to raise funds to benefit the Costume Institute of MET Museum.
